Next, mount the forward scatter detector opposite the flow cell. Insert the obscuration bar, and make sure the laser beam is htting the bar (not above or below). You can remove the photodiode (PD) and project the beam onto a piece of paper to ensure that the laser beam is occluded by the obscuration bar.
Now, connect the electronics. The blue Azurite box contains the amplifiers and the PMT power controllers. The small black box contains the preamplifiers. The thick black cables are the PMT power cables - connect them to power cables on the PMTs, and then to the Azurite box. The power cable key is:
SSC detector (blue) >>> Azurite PMT power connection 1
FL1 detector (green) >>> Azurite PMT power connection 2
FL2 detector (orange) >>> Azurite PMT power connection 3
The FSC detector is a photodiode and needs no external power.
Next, connect the signal cables, using the coaxial cables with the gold connectors. The short cables are to connect the PMTs to the black preamp box, and the long cables to connect the preamp boxs to the main Azurite box. The signal cable key is:
SSC detector (blue) >>> Preamp connection 1 IN >>> Preamp connection 1 OUT >>> Azurite signal connection 1
FL1 detector (green) >>> Preamp connection 2 IN >>> Preamp connection 2 OUT >>> Azurite signal connection 2
FL2 detector (red) >>> Preamp connection 3 IN >>> Preamp connection 3 OUT >>> Azurite signal connection 3
FSC detector (white/grey) >>> Preamp connection 4 IN >>> Preamp connection 4 OUT >>> Azurite signal connection 4
Now connect the main power to the Azurite box, and connect the black preamp box to one of the Azurite round power connections using a red power cable. Connect the Azurite box to a USB port on the computer with a mini-USB cable. Turn on the Azurite box and start the Kytos software.
